A PDF file is a format of files that can be used by a lot of different programs and by all kinds of computers. The PDF format itself was developed by Adobe, and it's a genius kind of file, because before we had PDFs, you couldn't read a PC file in Mac, and vice versa.

Most programs that you will use (Word, Xcell, Powerpoint, Photoshop. any Adobe program and many many others) can write a PDF file. But you need to figure out how exactly they will do it.

Your best bet is to go to the File menu, and see if you have an option to Export as PDF or Save As PDF. If you can't find it there, try the Print command and see if that gives you an option to make a PDF. If it's not there, you will have to read the program manual or go to the Help menu and see what they say there.

If you get a PDF, you can download a program called Adobe Acrobat Reader from http://www.adobe.com (it's free), and that will read all the PDFs you get.

PDF, or Portable Document Format, is a file created using the open standard owned by Adobe Systems and most often created with Adobe Acrobat. A free PDF reader program is Adobe Acrobat Reader, but to make a PDF, you will need one of the programs listed at:

PDF file is an Adobe Acrobat file which is just like Microsoft word but can't be edited easily.

There is a software like OpenOffice which you can download from openoffice.org and using this software basically once you have written a word file, you can save it as PDF file. OpenOffice is a free version same as Microsoft Office.

Hi,
a .pdf file is an adobe acrobat file. You can go to their website (see below) for the program. you can usually transform a word document to adobe as well (either by changing it or by "printing" to adobe). However, if you have sheet music I would suggest using Finale (see below). Good luck

PDF is an invention of Adobe and it is "portable document format" and it was invented so people coudl read docuements across different computers etc.

if you have to make a PDF for your job then they must have given you the software? if not, i found a link on google for a free one (I have not tried this one)
