I know of course = means equal but how does the colon (:) change the meaning?

Forgive me if this answer is rubbish as all I know is that SQL= Structured Query Language!

However, I did a G**gle search (see source) which states 'The colon (:) is used to select "slices" from arrays. (See Section 5.12.) In certain SQL dialects (such as Embedded SQL), the colon is used to prefix variable names. '

If that does not help -apologies and I hope that someone more knowledgable than me can assist!!

where did you found operator := ??? i never seen it in Sql,
but i always use it in delphi.

in mySql there is != operator , means not equal to
