I work in an office I have found out that one of my co-workers have been following me for about the last month at lunch time to see what I do & where I go then report back to other co-workers and then start making snide remarks in the office. They are trying to see if Iam having an affair with another co-worker so far they have only seen me have lunch a few times with that person but are starting to spread rumors and making it an unpleasant work enviroment. It seems they have a personal vendetta against me for some reason

They don't have much of a life if they are doing this. In any case -- you can ignore it and do what you normally do. You could report it, but I doubt, since it's not on workplace property that 1. there would be any way for a supervisor to do anything and 2. that there would be any way to actually prove that people were following you.

This could get messy if you try to retaliate or set them up. I'd start doing errands (bank, store, postoffice) and then go straight back to work for a few weeks. If they truly are following you, they'll just get bored.

People can pretty much go wherever they want during lunch ... and that includes going to the same place you do.

You could try having an informal talk with their supervisor over what you believe to be happening, but to be honest with you ... most people will have a hard time believing that you are so fascinating that a group of people have devoted their lunch hour to tracking your movements. It's just not very plausable. Or realistic.

The only real way to combat gossip is to hold your head high and keep your nose clean. If you don't give them anything to talk about ... they will get bored and move on to the next subject.

If you have a HR department in your company that is the best place to start. If that doesn't work, simply call the police. Stalking is against the law no matter if you work in the same company or not.

Following someone into the bathroom is rude. You usually brush your teeth and then come out, but what if that day you'd changed your routine? He shouldn't have followed you.

It is easy to say something if it is not happening to you personally.
I do have some expeience.
When you work with other people there will alway be talk and rumors. In plain simple language "gossip". If it does not harm your job or life. I would ignore it.

Talk to your supervisor. Most businesses have rules that prohibit workplace harassment.
