xp has built in burning software. Just put a blank disk in your burner then goto my computer and click the cd drive. It should just look like a blank folder. Just drag whatever you want to copy into the blank folder. There should be an option that says write these files to disk. Click that and you should be on your way.

There are a couple of ways to burn to Cd's. The "Drag and Drop" or use Windows Media Player. The media player will rip and burn. First, make sure that you have unchecked the box marked,"Copy Protect Music" in the player's "Tools", "Options" and tic the "Apply" button at the bottom of the window. Then load the original music Cd into the drive. Bring up the media player, then tic on the "Rip" tab. The "rip" screen will appear with the list of songs on the Cd. On the left side, check the song that you want to burn to the blank Cd. Then tic on the "Rip Music" button. When the rip is done tic on the burn tab. On the left again, tic on the songs that you want to burn to the blank Cd. Remove the original Cd and replace it with a blank. Once the player sees the blank, you'll be able to tic the "Burn to Disc" button. When the burning is done the disc should eject on it's own.

Do you have Itunes? If so you can burn them with that or you can go to www.download.com and they have some free downloadable CD burning software. (your computer already has the ability to burn something, what it lacks is the software to do so)
