Most of my family members cannot believe I am thinking of not dressing up my son for Halloween. What is the point? He can't trick or treat yet, I don't want the candy and he is to young to eat it. I know it's cute and all and don't get me wrong I love Halloween. I just think it makes more sense to wait till next year.

It would be for your own pleasure, looking at how cute he is, and taking pictures. I'm sure an 11 month old would have no clue what's going on, and probably would not be disappointed to learn that you didn't dress him up as a duck when he's older. Your decision not to makes you seem more intelligent in my mind, because you don't seem be caught up in the mindless petty habits of a mainstream society.

Good job, wait till next year. Dress him up a little and take a few pictures and that will make your family happy. Then they'll get off your back.

It's for pictures so you can say later, "Oh how cute!" With my first two, I waited till they were 2 and could trick or treat. With my third, since the others were going, we dressed her up to go along and with the fourth, someone gave us an outfit so we put it on him and now it's just part of the cute memorabilia. We show him that he was a pumpkin when he was a baby and he loves it.

The only point of dressing up a child so young for Halloween, is for parents, grandparents, etc. You can take pictures and have something fun to remember and perhaps show your child when they're older. It's not super important. It's really up to you if that matters at all.

Do whatever you want...who cares what everyone else says. I myself am dressing up my 2 month old as a pumpkin but only to answer the door for trick or treaters, I just want a picture of her actual first halloween.

Old people like halloween and a lot of people like to look at cute costumes.

At that age, you can dress the kid up as whatever you want to. Later, he'll probably want to have some say. Plus, a "first Halloween" is good for photo albums and scrapbooks that you can show him later in life, or embarrass him with, whichever you choose.

Well, i have 3 kids. i thought the same thing as u did, but my wife went ahead and dressed up my oldest daughter (9 months at the time) and she had her picture taken for the paper. It doesn't seem like much, but when i show her that clipping from the paper 20 years from now, it'll be worth it seeing the smile on her face.

The point is that the family just wants to see the little guy all dressed up. Mostly just for the pictures opt. You don't have to take him door to door, just to the main family and they could give him little toys (baby friendly) instead of candy.

The same reason why some people dress up their dogs for Halloween.

You should do what you want. Your child doesn't know the difference. However, it could be fun for you, and make some cute pictures to share with friends and family. Suit yourself.
