I want to buy a stick shift prelude, but don't know which to pick. Which would be fastest stock. If you have one tell me of your experiences, btw i want one 97 and up, the newer models. THanks.

The 1999 models and up gained 5hp making all prelude models of that year and newer having 195 hp in 4-speed automatic form, and 200 hp in 5-speed manual transmission form. All preludes from 1997 on up have the same 190-200 hp H22 4-cylinder engine. Just make sure you get your 5-speed manual, other than that there are no real performance differences.

the '97+ type SH had the most stock horsepower of all preludes at 195 hp. it was built on the same chassis as the 92-96 line, whose vtec model put out 190 hp.

personally, i like the look of the '92-'96 models

i had a '94 vtec, which i modified to about 275 hp. those mods came from a supercharger, headers and an exhaust.

Buy the 97-01 model prelude and get the type-SH they have some trick stuff on them. the SH stands for super handling. all of the 97-01 though will be about the same as in speed but the sh is a little better.

if you get the SH model, that will have the most whp stock, it actually has an H22 model engine in it, which is a 2.2 liter 4 cyl. with vtec with 195 engine hp.that would be the best in my opinion, however if youre lookin for something newer youre going to be paying aroun 12000 at least for it, unless its from a private seller, if you buy it from a private, make sure you have them take it to a dealership and have them do a safety check bc that will tell you alot more about the car than any private seller would tell you willingly.go to http://auto.consumerguide.com/auto/used/reviews/full/index.cfm/id/2265/
there is a complete review of the prelude.

any of the ones with the H22 Vtech are fast but the 97' and up have a little more horsepower. The H22 is the best 4cly to bulid.
Capable of 600hp with proper modifications and still use it as a daily driver.

properly, along with your modern-day mods you're at 205 HPs at max (from inventory 195), the camshafts are an extraordinary thought, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that in case you dont desire to spend plenty, dont anticipate a great style of advance. in case you desire to do mods on your vehicle, you could examine the impact (0-60,a million/4, and so on) on overall performance making use of a vehicle overall performance simulator (NxGTR Sim) attempt at source link below
