Yes there is more than one theory of what the grail is/was. On one hand in the classical story is that it is the cup the Jesus used at the Last Supper.that one of the apostles took with him afterward and hid it.or gave to Joesph of Aramathia along with Jesus Shepard's staff.and they wound up in Ireland at Glastonbury Tor.
Another slant can be found in Maurice Cotterell's book Jesus, King Arthur, and the Journey of the Grail(The Secrets of the Sun Kings.)
Another is of course the story of King Arthur and the quest for the Holy Grail to reconnect the king to the land.
Yes Jesus' physical body was very human and it possible that while he was still alive he married Mary Magdalene . He was a Rabbi also and could have preformed the marriage ceremony him self.
The book your referring to is. the illustrated Bloodline of the Holy Grail(The Hidden Lineage of Jesus Reveled.)
The Question then becomes why should it change much of anything in the Bible. It won't ruin the real Christian Faith. Just the lies and added on rites and rituals that the Church took from other religions to try and get them to convert.
They would just have to go back and make it more along the lines of the Jewish Faith of which it is a Sept. not a whole new religion.
Jesus said before the accession that the Gentiles were to keep his story and words true and pure until the Jewish people truly believed that He was the True appointed Messiah.

The da vinci code is just fiction and not that good a read either. The theme of the Holy grail or Graal was first metioned in Chreitien de Troyes Perceval or Conte du Graal. The Grail could have been inspired by paintings found in churches in the Spanish Pyrennes decipting Mary mother of Jesus holding a radiant bowel. The claims of a bloodline of Christ is nonsense with no Historical evidence. The Priory of Sion was Founded by a Fraudster and Nationalist Pierre Plantard who later admitted the Dossier secrets was made up and the priory was named after Sion a french town. Also the Figure in The Last Supper is John the most beloved Disciple not Mary Magdalene you see Leonardo always potrayed young men as femanine just look at his other works like John the Baptist. Also Leonardo was a Catholic maybe a questioning one but a believer in Jesus any evidence he was involved in a movement are unfounded. But i do believe there is still a mystery in Rennes le Chateou and the man Berenger Saunerie the poor priest who became wealthy and decorated his church with some odd images there is some secret there i think it might be somethink to do with the Cathars and the followers of John the Baptist. The Knights Templars where accussed of Worshiping Baphomet ( a head) in both The Shephards of Arcadia by Pousin and in one of the murals in the church in Rennes there is a skull and also in other Paintings by Pousin there are skulls. Just a thought maybe im on the wrong track but unlike Dan Brown i research my theories.

If you read the book you will find even more to make you think!
Remember though it is a THRILLER woven round lots of different myths and ideas and most of them taken from other books!
The author Dan Brown has cleverly used them to stir people up other-wise people would not discuss it anyway.
Whatever the Grail is, was or may be doesnt matter! Believe what you WANT to believe.
Most answers seem to miss it but I found the last comment much more interesting!
I think God could have saved a lot of confusion if he had Created Christ without a human mother! No question of whether he was JUST a mortal man or the SON of GOD then eh!

Jesus came to earth as a man...he had all the wants and desires of any normal man...and as a Catholic I do believe he married Mary Magdalene and had a child or even more than one..
The reason the church denies it is..because they dont want priests or nuns to marry...why? Not cos God said so....it's not in the bible...many of the apostles were married...But if it was known fact that Jesus married..then they would have no reason for the celibracy rule....and the church is simply too greedy for money to pay priests enough to keep a family...ans thats a fact!

I think the whole question about the humanity of Jesus is a real dividing line between not only non-believers and believers, but between believers themselves. About two thirds of the world's Christians believe in a very literal Jesus who was divinely conceived. About one-third of the believers are not as concerned that he was born of a virgin, or that Mary remained a virgin. Personally, I would invite you to use your wonderful common sense and imagine a Jesus that was very much a human being just like any one else, but who was touched in a way by God that none of us will ever really understand. He was, truly, the Son of God.

Its only a book
theres been myths along these lines for centuries, but really who cares?
Try reading"Another Roadside Attraction"by tom Robbins for an even more shocking take on the jesus myth, and altogether better written than anything Dan Brown can produce

The holy grail does not exist it was dreamed up by some medieval French story tellers, it was then hijacked by English religious lunatics and turned into something that it was never meant to be, this is a lesson to be learned anything can be turned into a religious item or tenet by religious maniacs.

The punctuations are put on your keyboard for a reason. Use them.
The Da Vinci code is fiction, the writer says it's fiction. The holy grail is a myth no matter what you think it is or what you think it looks like.

Ignore the film and read the book. They had to cut so much out to squash it down to 90 minutes. The book answers so much more.
