i have lakes and there are thousands of coots (waterfowl) that are eating my landscape

You might want to look into buying a noise maker (specifically made for scaring waterfowl and other birds) that periodically makes a booming noise to scare them off. They are often used by farmers that have ducks and other birds eating their crops. I would not suggest killing them as all birds are protected by law. See link below:

Its not your landscape it belongs to them as much as it belongs to you and it is possible coots where living on that land long before you were ever born.... Leave them alone.

find yourself a falconer to catch them. If you live in the west Yorkshire and our Harris hawks love coots and we will come catch them.

Place rubber snakes around places they frequent. they act like scarecrows.
