I believe so--my husband's will be let go while riding on our Harley-(dust in the wind) and some in the bay--he loves fishing also. Honor their wishes and will be ok. Hope this helps.

There are some religious groups that would likely object, feeling that cremains must be interred, rather than scattered. However, I've known many people who've split the cremains of loved ones. For instance, when a friend's mother died unexpectedly, her ashes were split among her children, who either scattered them in various locations or kept them. Many people have their ashes scattered in multiple places. Personally don't see anything wrong with it.

Sure, I used to manage a crematorium and this was a very common practice. Some families asked for the cremains to be divided among family members so everyone could have their own urn. Another common solution was to scatter the cremains but each family member keep a tiny amount to keep in a sealed locket.

Got to do what feels right for you. Split my grand-parents between the places they loved going with us their grandchildren so we all knew there was a bit of them always there with us. Really nice to visit still as have a sense of them being there with you.
If they haven't asked you to do anything specific they probably would be happy for you to make that choice. Only chance we have to be in all our favourite places at one time.isn't it!
Just don't keep some in a pot round your neck...remember your loved one for whom they were and the places and things they and you loved, not for just the remains. If you scatter them they split up anyway, this way you are just helping the process a bit.

You can even have some of the ashes made into a created diamond these days so he could always put a sparkle in your life!
