Every brand of LCD that I have purchased for my customers recommend a damp cloth, and nothing else.
Good luck

The problem with water is that it often contains impurities in the form of salts and minerals. These can and will damage the surface of the LCD over time.
Another thing is that unlike an alcohol based cleaner water does not evaporate quickly enough to insure that none of it seeps through the panel's bezel & into the LCD. Even when using a proper cleaner this is why you should NEVER spray anything directly on the LCD. Spray a cotton or microfiber cloth & then use it to clean the screen.

I wouldn't take a chance. I found an LCD cleaner that works great. It's called, "iClean". You can get it at, "www.monstercable.com". I can't remember the price, but I think it was pretty cheap. It comes with two small bottles of LCD cleaning solution and an LCD cleaning cloth.
