I think it has a lot to do with where you grow up. I say it Car mul. I know a lot of people who moved to my home town from other places that say it car a mel.

Well, according to my dictionary it's "ca-ra-mel," but I say "car-mul" and I think you can say it either way.

It depends where you're from, I suppose. In Australia, we say CAR A MEL with the A in car being short as in cat. But I have heard some US people say CARmel with the a like in car.

i think it's a regional thing.
personally, i pronounce it the same as you (ca-ra-mel),
but i don't think either way is wrong.

id go with the first one, but thats just me.
[kar-uh-muhl, -mel, kahr-muhl] is apparently the official pronunciation, and it looks like either pronunciation is correct.
