Pirates are popular this year. You can get stuff from the thrift store to put together a good pirate look. A scarecrow is always a good, simple idea. A ghost is pretty easy if you can find a white bedsheet no one wants back. Of course, if you want to be a bit different, there's always the 'candy deposit box.' You get a cardboard box big enough for you to wear, then paint or cover it in a plain color. Make a head hole and arm holes. In the front, cut a slit large enough to accommodate a couple pieces of candy. On the inside, securely fasten a big bag around the slit to catch the candy. Label it clearly on the front, so it looks like the night deposit box at the bank.
