Bleeding for the first few weeks after the baby is born can be a horror! I remembered that i thought i was literally dying or something....lol. But tis actually quite normal. The clotting is a good sign that your uterus is clearing out and going back to the normal size, which can take up to 6 weeks. Some clots may be rather large. If, however, the clots are larger than the size of an orange, then you should see your doctor.
There are signs to look for of when the bleeding will stop. Uusually, the blood will start to look brown, then fade to a yellowish color sometimes. This is normal at the time that the bleeding stops.
It is recommended NOT to use tampons for the first few weeks, so that the clots can comes out. If you use a tampon, it can keep the clots from coming out and cause some big problems.
If you are having pain, a heating pad aplied on the belly always helped me.

well alot of heavy bleeding is normal for the first week or 2 and some clotting is considered normal, how ever my widwife told me when i had my son last year that too many large clots may be a problem, so if your worried just see your Dr.
but clotting is normal and it should settle down after a little while while, u might have a few more weeks yet before u stop bleeding.
good luck and congratulations on your baby! i am due in 2 weeks

It depends on what you think a lot is. Usually blood looks like more than it really is. It's normal to bleed, especially if you are up doing a lot with the new baby and don't have a lot of help and are on your feet. I'd give it another week and it should slow down and start to clot or turn to discharge, hopefully you are resting and getting off your feet when you can. Let someone help if you have someone. That will help it a lot. good luck and Congratulations!!!

Yes! I was so freaked out after I had both of my babies. I had so many clots. It was so scary! But yeah, that's normal. It'll probably last another week and gradually get lighter. If the clots get really big you might want to contact your doctor but other than that you should be fine. It's kinda scary and painful right after you have the baby but just hang in there, in a few more weeks you'll forget all about it. Enjoy your little one! Congratulations!

your right, bleeding is normal, but if its alot(going thru more pads than on your period), don't worry too much unless it's still bright red or has an odd smell to it, an odd smell could mean infection, but bright red could also mean your not clotting. Myself ,I would get ahold of my dr. as soon as possible. Has the bleeding slowed down at all? Do you have any clots at all? I'm mom to seven children and I can tell you I never had abnormal bleeding but it did seem like it would never stop!! If you are worried than call your Dr., remember" the only stupid question is the one that is never asked".

It can final from two to six weeks. It should not be heavier than menstrual bleeding, and after the primary two weeks it must regularly get lighter, and difference from crimson to purple to finally a yellowish transparent discharge. If you immediately begin to have heavier bleeding once more after it starts to loosen up, you would wish to speak on your physician. It would readily be that you're doing to so much too quickly, or it would be a signal of some thing extra critical, similar to a facet of the placenta being left at the back of.

small clots are normal, anything over an inch and u should go to the ER as soon as possible. Even if you have several clots in a hour you are probably alright, that is what the cells are supposed to do, anything that makes you uncomfortable is enough to go get checked.

I bled for 3 weeks off/on. You shouldnt pass a clot bigger than your fist. If you do....you need medical attention.
