If you have no cable where you live and too far from the BT exchange - it may be possible to get togther with other people and form a computer club. This is difficult and you will need some technical assistance. A fast broadband connection, I'm connected to 2 now wirelessly. Mine at 54 Mbs and another at 400 Mbs. The latter is probably the local school! That is encrypted so I can't use it. But I can get the signal - so if i had the encryption key - I would have broadband. Now if you live in a village and 100 people get together and ask BT for a 400 Mbs connection and router - they would probably do it. It may cost a lot! In fact there are other companies that do business broadband that would probably do it cheaper. But the whole village could then connect wirelessly to the broadband. You would all have to have some kind of contract of course. On a 400 Mbs connection you could get even more than 100 people on - depends on the speeds you want and you won't all be on it at the same time. You could also have your own Intranet - sharing things between you - like video. My actual connection to ADSL is about 1.4 Mbs or less - so if I had the connection the school has - I could share it with maybe 500 people. As long as they weren't all like me and obsessed with the Internet! lol

Take a look at http://www.samknows.com/broadband/index.php and search for the local exchange in your area, this will advise what services you should be able to receive.

Most mobile phone companies are now offering laptop internet access like T-mobiles Web n Walk Max. Why not check it out and see if that is any good for you.

Your only real choice is to move to a location where broadband is available.
