I was walking down the street with a friend while out shopping. We weren't bothering anybody, and were minding our own business. Then a car came screeching up to us and a man rolled down the window. He called us all manner of vulgar names. We'd done absolutely nothing to bring this upon ourselves. We were definitely not wearing short-cut or provocative clothing (because someone will probably suggest that as the cause, but it was a cool day, and we were both wearing full jackets). As we walked, the driver kept up with us for a bit, and the passenger just kept screaming abusive names at us. Why would somebody do this? It would never even occur to me to insult random strangers in this way. The part that strikes me as the most peculiar is that it took two adult males to do this: the driver and the passenger. In other words, it wasn't just a single deranged person, but a team effort.

Deranged people often do not have real reasons for harassing people. If this ever happens again make sure you get the license number of the car and a description of both the car and the driver and passenger. Call the police and file a report. Also try turning around and walking the other way or duck into a shop.

Unlike your sane rational thinking this world isn't necessarily that way.

There are quite a few people in this world that are a few cokes short of a 12 pack.

The fact that you wrote an entire paragraph about it says something about you.... You allow yourself to care about what a complete stranger says to you more so than the next person... People are weird and rude, welcome to the world, tell em to f'off and keep on truckin....

It happens a lot. Some people are rude and immature and think they have the right to shout at people and call them names. Someone suggested that you should have taken their number, which would have been a good idea.

They were probably either insane or just nasty people. Either way, if it were me, I would have gotten their license number and reported it. They can't go around thinking it's acceptable to do that to innocent passers-by.

Because they have to self-esteem and it makes them feel better to belittle and put others down to make them feel big.

Next time, get their plate number and report them. My sister did and they went to court for sexual harassment.
