As you know, the right answer is to go see a doctor as soon as you can get an appointment. The chance that it's cancer is small, but it's NOT out of the question, so it's best to find out right away, for your physical and emotional well being. But it can also be any of several types of benign (not harmful) things such as a cyst, an infection of sorts, a fatty lump, an ingrown hair, or "normal" changes caused by your cycle (or by overdoing on caffeine, some say).

Good luck, {{{{{{{{{hug -- don't worry}}}}}. Get checked this week.

did you do this exam right before or right after your period vause if you did that might be why you felt a lump, my doctor told me never to check my breasts at those times. It could just be a cyst, cancer runs in my family also so i tend to be a hypochondriac at times but just to be on the safe side you should get a mammogram and an exam from your doctor. I hope everything will be ok for you.

A gynecologist is an excellent first stop, since they are experienced with examining breasts, and can often do most of the early procedures themselves.

Since you mentioned your breasts are swollen... are you premenstrual? If so it's quite possible that this lump is a premenstrual symptom and will go away on its own. Call the doctor for your own peace of mind and keep an eye on it, but don't worry too much just yet.

Yes, you need to go and see your doctor. It could be anything, it could be a cyst, you may be getting ready to start your period, it could be a firbro, but if you have a family history, go get it checked out. I once had a lump on my breast and I freaked out also, my grandmother had breast cancer and it scared the life out of me. Come to find out it was just a cyst but I went to the doctor anyway.

You must see a gyno right away. He will send for a mammogram. Don't panic. Often these lumps are just fatty tissue but you have to be sure.

Odds are that it's not cancer. However, at 24 you should see your gynecologist and have your breasts checked. You can have non-canerous cystic breasts that can also require treatment.

if you shave your hair at under arms then it could be an ingrown hair. and if you are pre-menstrual then that could explain swollen breats.
however for your piece of mind get an ultrasound done or a memogram done.

Sure be on the safe side and see your doc, but it could just be nothing since you're young
