Google - Identity Verification. There are plenty of companies who offer this service, for other companies, landlords, casino owners etc. It costs but in your situation it probably isn't worth it:
Your mate is being scammed, if she has been sending money, tell the Police and make her aware of the situation. She will only be hurt, and out of pocket. It is very important to TELL THE POLICE if she has been sending money.
Who knows what will happen to her - need I say more.
Rip up her plane ticket, convince her to stay, tell the police - whatever it takes
Best of luck.

The address will be genuine, how are they going to scam your mate if they give a phoney address?
Google (sorry, I mean "yahoo!') the person in question, see if they have form for this. If you have any of the persons emails, check the headers to get the guys ip address and do an IP lookup - you might get lucky.and find something out.

it sounds a bit funny. I hope she'll do ok.
send a letter or a card or a small gift, with a proper courier, and make sure the lovely husband sign for it with a form of id.
or send some luggage ahead so she's not stuck waiting at the airport.
maybe she should let the british embassy in Cairo know where and with whom she's gonna be.

What's the address for? Is that where she's supposed to send the cheques so he can organise the marriage and prepare for their married life together? In that case it'll be a real address. If it's the address where you'll be able to contact her, so she can keep her old friends after she's married, then it will almost certainly be fake.

is she insane?
How old is she?
What will he benefit from this marriage, if its real?
Is she really prepared to leave everyone behione for a guy she has never met? he could be a web of lies, excuse the pun.
He should come to UK before she goes there, to see if he is the real deal, even so, should wait till they get to know each other.

Egypt....say a good ,,,strong good buy to your mate you will neversee her again...she will be sold a slave in SUDAN....and at best she will end up a sex-slave in one of the emirate palaces or at worst she will be sold to a PIMP in one of the ARAB bountries....territories...where the British Embassies or armies can't help...and who knows where she end up..I hope she change her mind and stay in UK , where hopefully she will be sound and safe. The moment she will cross the Egyptian border no body will be able to help her...I lived there many years I know.
