I know the 3800 is better at the stock speed. The 3700 has 1mb of l2 cache and if it is overclocked to 2.4 ghz is the same as the 4000+. It has the same core as the FX processors and is £12 cheaper.

You can compare all three: the 3700, the 3800 and the 4000 at http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/cpu/charts.html
There isn't a significant difference between the 4000 and the 3800 in the majority of the tests on the link below never more than 3% and often considerably less...
It doesn't seem fair to compare a 3700 overclocked to 4000 with the standard 3800 - is this not capable of being overclocked?
