It will be very difficult to find meaningful work in Canada without a college or University degree.

I have two degrees and it took me a LONG time to find decent work outside of the sales/ service sectors.

Good Luck.

Canada stands in between the USA and Europe when it comes to social stuff, education and jobs. It's not all capitalist and not all socialist. But one thing is certain that you will have little chance to find a decent job there without a degree from a Canadian or American school. Once you get the job it's more or less like Europe, meaning you don't work as much as Americans though you earn almost as much.

It really depends on what kind of work you are looking for. A lot of my foreign friends get jobs in restaurants while they are here to study. Most of them are too young to have degrees.
The service industry usually doesn't require a degree above high school, the construction industry generally wants a certificate of apprenticeship or experience in lieu.
Having a second language is considered a bonus. The ability to speak French is essential in Quebec and some parts of New Brunswick. In Ontario near the Quebec border, bilingual candidates are accepted ahead of unilingual ones.
Out west, I understand there are many jobs in the natural resources sector, but they often require some special training.
