Hi
I would recommended cleaning your carpets and using a disinfectant like Milgo SR (may need to go to a janitorial supply store for this and ask for a disinfectant for carpet) and put it in the rinse water. Deodorizers just cover up the smell for a while and disinfectant kill bacteria in the carpet.
Please DO NOT put anything on the carpet that was not made for carpet

Get a bissell Little Green Machine. Use the pet odor solution. Or any enzyme based cleaner. Trust me if you have a baby and or pets and carpeting you will use this machine frequently! It is small and portable easy to use in car.

Lots of vinegar. Do alittle at a time. If you have a steam machine try using warm water and vinegar in your tank else just do it by hand. You will probably have to repeat this several times before you get the smell out when it is dry spray it with freebreeze and you`ll be happy!

Aside from spray, you may as well use Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Duo. The soft, blue layer helps absorb odor and stain. If you like, you may also visit this site http://www.upkb.com/mrclean.php for cleaning tips and product details.
