Because some of them don't have the time to keep them up like others . Also I think some are not really wanting to have to deal with emails for many reason. So are shy. Some older people are just happy with life and don't really care to chat with people. I think that is the main reason. Maybe some don't know how too make a page. Plus people can leave rude comments at times and people would rather not even go there.

Real pictures....Some for different reason. I have few hidden in my blog. I have kids really the way I joke around I wouldn't won't anyone from my home town to know it was me on here.

yeah it takes time to make all that stuff and i get bored, besides i am kind of shy, ^_^
