Use P2P software to access anime on animeyume.com... All you need is to download a bittorrent tool and you're away. If this all sounds like gibberish go to wikipedia to get an explanation. It is dead easy.
Try and look for local fan groups that get together and watch anime. Not sure where you are but in the UK and US there is likely to be one in a city near you. My local lends out tapes so you get to access lots of stuff for free.

A friend's house...provided they already have the anime of choice.
Or you could get a job with one of the video rental companies and get free rentals, so that way you're not just limited to anime.

youtube is the best place. if you have some sort of a flash that is required to watch on cartoon network, that's another place. turbonick also. you can watch avatar on it! youtube is the best though.
