5x + y/a = 2 ... multiply all parts by a.

5ax + y = 2a .. subtract y and 2a from both sides.

5ax - 2a = -y ... factor out an a on the left side.

a (5x - 2) = -y ... divide by (5x - 2) on both sides.

a = -y / (5x - 2).

All done!! :-)

Hi,

5x + y/a = 2

subtract 5x from each side to move it over

y/a = 2-5x

flip both sides over (take reciprocal) we can do this as long as we do it to both sides. (We are also assuming that neither a, nor y are equal to zero, and that x isn't equal to 2/5 because you can't divide by zero.)

a/y = 1/(2-5x)

then just multiply both sides by y to isolate a

a = y/(2-5x)

Hope that helps,
Matt

5x+y/a=2 ; a≠0 => **
-(5x-2)=y/a<=>
(-5x+2)/y = 1/a;y≠0 => ***
a=y/(-5x+2) ; *(-5x+2)≠0 =>x≠2/5 ****

Because of ***
if y=0 =>x= 2/5=>
a can take any value in R\{0} because of **
===================
because of *** &****
if (x,y)≠(2/5,0)=>
a=y/(-5x+2) we check to see if it's ok with ** and we can see for y≠0 => a≠0 so ok

You have to know what y and a equals it means 5 times x plus y divided by a equals 2

Do you mean (5x+y)/a = 2? If so, then a = 2/(5x+y).

If you mean (5x) + (y/a) = 2, then y/a = 2 - 5x, so

a = y / (2 - 5x).

well first you have to multiply (A) on both sides
so you get

A(5x +Y/A)=2(A)

then divide by 2

so (5x +Y) /2=A

5x+y/a=2 ----subtract both sides by 5x
y/a=2-5x ----multiply both sides by a
y=(2-5x )a ----divide both sides by (2-5x)
a= y/(2-5x) ---- then u get a

multiply both sides by a, subtract y from both sides and then divide everything by 5

You can't solve this unless you know the value of the constants y and a.

5 x 2 = 10 + 2 = 12 / 6 = 2 so
x = 2 , y = 10 and a= 2
idk ?
