If you're relatively new I'd actually recommend some Led Zeppelin.Things like Heart Breaker and Stairway to Heaven.I'd choose those two because they demostrate many of the scenarios you'll encounter in rock guitar. You've got riff based playing, rhythmic strumming, fingerstyle and lead.
Rather than a web site I recommend learning by ear instead. This will accelerate your progress beyong your expectations and will help you to improvise lead guitar in the future.
Guitar for the Practicing Musician is a grest mag with tips on all kinds of subjects and usually a few songs tabbed out every month. It's great because they also give you performance notes along with the tabs to help you play and understand the music better. They may have a site but it's considered spam and advertisement for anyone to post a non Yahoo! site.I'm not going to bother to list my most recent learning because they're very challenging.
Players I've loved are SRV,Steve Vai,Jimmy Page,Yngwie Malmsteen,Allen Holdsworth and Lou Ubriaco

I like to play along with a lot of different songs, but metallica is by far my favorite, a lot of their songs are quite simple to perform, but oh so much fun.

Most Beatle songs are fun to play. They're known by pretty much everyone, so you'll always have a singalong...
