Okay that's a good question and i would have said gun up until a few weeks ago when a friends had this horrible nose piercing mistake.
See as long as the person doing the piercing can handle the gun well you are fine. With the needle while you may feel it more you can get a better lock on the location of where you want it. With the gun she missed and had it go through on the thicker part of her nose. Well the thing kept bleeding all night and swelled up really bad in the morning. The blood had literally gone into her hair over night.
So i would say rethink even getting it done in the first place. Second if you do go to a professional. Third, perhaps make sure the professional can assure you that they can get it done on the first try with the gun or ask if the needle would be better for.
You don't want to end up like my friend. She ended up having to go to the clinic on campus to get it removed because of the swelling.

Ask any real, certified piercer, and they will tell you a needle is the best way... the gun was not made for piercing the nose.... and its not always the cleanest either. The gun doesn't allow you to wear the proper jewelry for a nose piercing... they use studs, and are hard to put in, take out, and clean. Go for the needle... it's not that much of a difference. I got mine done about 5 years ago, and still have it. I love my nose piercing! Good luck!

You just don't pierce your nose with a gun, its impractical. It doesn't fit into your nose to do it, and it doesn't use the right jewelry. A gun would be fast and get it over with, but really using a needle isn't slow or anything. Its still going to pinch and hurt a little. You only use a gun on your earlobes. You could use it on your cartiledge, but it can shatter the cartiledge, which hurts even more, and you're more prone to infections and problems.

Needle... please believe me about this I also answered your other question you posted. I have had many piercing done and any good, licensed piercer from a REAL piercing shop will inform you about everything (the only people that use guns work at the mall, yea malls are sterile lol). The needles they use there are so sharp it goes right through and barely hurts depending on what you get done. (some places hurt more than other) I have many friends who are professional piercers and also have many piercings myself.

A needle. Guns don't do well on cartilage.
Make sure it's done professionally though.
