I felt the same way with my first son, who dint start crawling until about 9 months. Keep in mind that every baby is different and develops differently. Some babies are ahead in other areas of development that others. For example, some babies learn how to talk at a yougn age, but dont learn how to walk until later.

The fact that your son is rolling is a good sign. That means that his muscles are working the way they should and you can rule out the fact that he may have a medical condition keeping him from crawling.

The stimulation your sons recieves each day also will determine when he crawls. For example, if he is sitting in a baby swing or car seat most of the time, he will probably be late to crawl.

There are a few things that you can do to help motivate your little one to crawls. Simply putting them on the floor doesnt always help. What what helped for both of my sons was putting socks on their feet. This helps them grip the floor better with their feet. You can also try this: when he is on the floor on his belly, put something firm, like a box, up against his feet. This way, he has something to push off of.

Saying that a baby should crawl between 6-9 months is just an average. But now-a-days, babies are starting to become slower and take longer to learn motor development.

I bet when your son leanrs how to crawl it will come out of no where...lol. I was so worried with my first son because he took so long to crawl. The one day he just started crawling out of no where, and in a few days he was off! Its pretty amazing how fast they learn.

Good luck to you and your son, and let me know how things go!

I'm not a mother, but I have two younger siblings...It's normal if he's not crawling yet. In fact, some babies don't ever crawl. They just start gradually walking. Don't worry about it. Every child progresses at their own rate, nothing to worry about. If he's not even attempting to crawl by 10 1/2 months then I would take him to see a doctor. I'm sure he's just fine!! One of my younger brothers didn't start crawling until he was 9 1/2 months and now he's a little over a year and walking all over the place!! Don't stress, each child crawls when they're ready.

all babies are different there is no time when they SHOULD reach another mile stone my friends baby didn't crawl til he was well over a year and didn't walk til he was nearly 2 and he is sooo laid back as my son crawled at 7 months and walked at 10 months and is a little terror lol! its not a competition at all you get mothers say mine did this mine did that and ask you if your baby is doing it yet and blah blah blah but alot of children don't crawl at all some just roll or bum shuffle or do the commando thing and then walk! he will let you know if hes ready to crawl they normally go on all fours then you have to encourage them with a toy same as for bum shuffling and commando! it really doesn't matter every child progresses differently hope i helped and good luck enjoy it while you can cause once they are on the move its sooo tiring LOL take care xx

Babies crawl anywheres from 6-10 mths. They learn on their own time. My daughter didn't start crawling till she was 9mths old but walked soon afterwards @11 mths.
Babies sometimes do skip crawling and go right to walking. Doctors these days find walking to be a bigger development achieved than crawling. If you son doesn't crawl, there is nothing wrong with him.

Generally, most babies will start crawling between 6-9 months of age. However, as long as he's meeting other milestones, I wouldn't worry. You said he tries but gives up, so, that's probably just a sign of him not having an interest in it as of yet- and there's nothing wrong w/ that. Babies- like adults- learn new skills/milestones when they WANT to... ;)

For what it's worth: My oldest, Trey (22 months) started crawling at about 7-9 months... And, he refused to start walking until he was 15 months... The kid just FLAT OUT REFUSED! I knew he could do it, but he didn't want to... Oh, nooooooooo! LOL! It was just SO much more "convienient" for him to still have Mommy or Daddy carry him everywhere... LOL!

my daughter didnt crawl until about 9 months. she prefered to happily roll everywhere, then started walking at 12 months. I wouldnt worry. Some kids develop in different ways at different speeds. My daughter is now 19 months old and has a vocabulary of about 30 words. Her cousin is the same age, and only speaks 2 words, but his motor skills are much better. I certainly wouldnt worry about your baby not crawling yet, still very young.

Some babies don't crawl. My oldest son didn't crawl at all but started walking at 9 months. My youngest started crawling at 8 months and didn't walk until he was 11 months. Every baby is different.

As for things to get your baby to crawl, get on the floor with him. Put a toy out of reach but within view. Try to encourage him to get the toy.

Some babies start crawling at 4-5 months some don't crawl until 10 months. My son is almost 7 months and he crawls backwards and around in circles but he can't really crawl forwards yet. Your son will crawl when he's ready.

every child is different. he may just be a little behind on crawling. nothing to worry about. my son did not crawl until he was almost nine months old, but then he was walking by the time he was one, so there is nothing wrong with him. no techniques will hwlp him to crawl. if anything maybe try to get him up on his feet. he might be one of those kids who doesn't crawl at all, but starts walking first. try that and see if it works. if not, just give him another month and you won't be able to keep up with him.

My son is almost 7 now but when he was a baby, he didn't start crawling until he was about 9 months old, he would roll everywhere he needed to be. It was quite amusing. All kids develop differently, if they have older siblings I think they tend to walk/crawl sooner because they learn from the older ones. Mine is an only child so I decided that's why it took him so long to figure it out.
