I've had LASIK surgery a little over 2 years ago. It was painless and very easy. It has been awesome being glasses and contact lens free! It is soooo worth it!

LASIK surgery is pretty safe. Just make sure you don't go for the bargain centers (the ones that advertise $499/eye or lifetime enhancements - usually those centers don't stick around long and the surgeon is inexperienced). Make sure you do research on your surgeon (his/her experience level, how many surgeries he/she has done, success rate), the technology offered at the center as well as the lasers you are a candidate for, also do some comparison shopping to see which center/surgeon you are most comfortable with.

Your are are a little dry for a month after surgery - at the center I work for, we have you use preservative-free tears for 1 month afterwards to help keep them lubricated. After that it is just used as needed. If you have severe dry eye afterwards, punctum plugs can be placed in the tear duct to help your eyes produce more tears. Most patients are fine after the first month though. About 3% of patients have dry eyes afterwards and need the punctum plugs.

I have a daughter and son-in-law who've both had it, with no ill effects. However, the improved vision only lasts a few years (maybe 5) and they are both needing to have it done again. So now they have to take the risks again - or go back to wearing glasses. Read all the risks (fine print) and you may decide against it.

Dry eyes can be treated with a homeopathic remedy called (I think) Optique by Boerike & Taffel.

Vision can often be improved with liver cleansing. (I know, it sounds weird.) Try a liver cleanse from Renew Life, available at health food stores. Or buy Milk Thistle Seed extract & take with Dandelion Root tea for 30 days.

Night vision is improved by using Bilberry, an herb. Beta carotene (vitamin A) is helpful.

My vision is 20/400 which is really bad. There was a time I really wanted to do the Lasik surgery. However, quite frankly, I am quite hesitant now... because of the possible side effects, and the other risks, etc.

I opted to try exercises to see if they would improve my vision. I created a blog so that people can follow my progress. You can check it out at:

Laser eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and lasik surgery in India by a company called Forerunners Healthcare. The Price for dental and lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.
They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

i have not had it myself but i know atleast 7 people who have. they are all fine by the grace of God. non of them had any complications. i think doctor would give you some drops for dry eyes but that problem also resolves with time.
laser eye surgery has become very common but do your research and find a good qualified doctor.

Regis had it and he seems to be happy with it. He had it a few weeks ago on national TV.
