Besides Santana being the best guess....and Brooks and Dunn's "My Maria"...you have Ricky Martin's "Maria"....Blondie also had a song in the late 90's called "Maria". There are alot of songs with the words maria in them. Can you give a little more info?

Would you be thinking of My Maria, Brooks and Dunn recorded it and it was also recorded several years earlier by someone else. Also there was a song in West Side Story called Maria. I hope that helps some.

I was just searching around for a song similar to what you're describing. Could it be "Gloria" by Laura Branigan? It's 1982, it was a top-40-or-something disco / 80s pop hit, and it sounds very much like "Maria" in the song.
I hope this helps, even though it's 9 years overdue.

You might be thinking of the Carlos Santana version, it was done is the 200's though I think, it has an awesome little rap rift done by Product G&B, I cant remeber the CD its on but it was one of those where he featured alot of different artists
