It is politics all over. We are never satisfied unless we are getting what we want. The only ones who get what they want out of the government, are the politiians. Second homes, subsidies, council homes for councillors and free rides all the way to their bank! Bring down this government and start again, but make a charter we all agree with. be accountable to the citizens of this country, after all, it is we who pay their wages!!!

I'm not a fan of New Labour by any means, but they're nothing like Thatcher.

Under Labour we have had the minimum wage, tax credits, investment in the NHS (even if it isn't run perfectly this is far better than cuts and budget freezes) and investment in education.
We have had no major new privatisations of important publicly owned services, we have not seen the housing system for the poor being deliberately gutted and destroyed and we have not seen inflation rising as high 13% (in fact not even close, it's stayed around 3% - see the difference) and we have not seen the economy run in a monetarist way (an economic system which causes high unemployment among the very poorest to allow the rich to get richer).

Labour have not lived up to their promises and perhaps not met their, often high, ideals. But they do not and will not deliberatly try to destroy this countries most important commodity - it's workers.
That's very different from Thatcher or come to that Cameron's Conservatives (they hold the same policies and aims, they just call them something different to make them more marketable).

Every few years we get the chance to change the government. We got 15 years of Thatcher because people wanted her. We got 15 years of Blair because he's Maggie in drag. Next time round we'll get Cameron and more of the same.

the poll tax would have worked had not the government of the day been too greedy and placing young people in a frightening position and as for getting something back ,never will that happen and look forward to more taxes on you until this government is voted out but then what will the next lot get up to

I have to put words down to this. I have lived in this country for the past 65 years, I've lived through the war years, through rationing and when the country didn't allow anything for the first child. Now in blairs britain they dish out £500. and pay out for houses and allowances for these nicker droppers that are often still at school, they use it as a free ride on all of us. Now they talk about putting up taxes on drinks to stop binge drinkers, crap, and that didn't come from brown. The latest one, from another under worked and overpaid minister was, brown should increase taxes on fuel as prices were dropping, again crap from a crap government. If these rats are not got out next time, God help us all. The only one I think will not agree is "cheekbone" 'cause I have just read more crap from that one in another question.
Britain was still a great country back in the eighties, I remember on holiday in Germany, then when if you were British, you were respected. No longer they think we are crap as do most of the world. and me.

At least this government is investing in public services, unlike Thatcher's lot. If they get back in, they'll be taking your credit card at the door of the hospital and three million unemployed again. Stuff that for a lark.

There must be a large number of floating voters, who do not really follow the political landscape - but prefer to leave their decision, until voting day...

'WE' didn't, the Tories stabbed her in the back themselves.
Which goes to show, even chinless, brainless wonders can get fed up sometimes.
