Hi there. Does anyone out there know of non-drug ways to relieve period cramps? My period was almost 2 weeks overdue, so I am really feeling the pain. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Hey, I really feel for you; I used to get really bad pains as well!!! For this time, the only thing that I could suggest is a wheat cushion or a heat pack. This provides some relief. For the future, take a teaspoon of flaxseed oil, or two Evening Primrose capsules each day (one morning and night). I've found that this really keeps my pain under control, and it's also good for you general health.

I have very picky cramps that will only go away if I sit in a hot bath.

A heating pad on the stomach or back (wherever floats your boat) works wonders. If you aren't totally incapacitated, exercise is very helpful.

Over the counter cramp meds. ie: midol Also with that and a heating pad, lay in bed and watch a good movie. If they are really bad, your dr. can prescribe you something if over the counter meds. don't work.
