The power supply seems to be ok and I don't think it is a blown fuse as the light on the front comes on. I suspect there might be a faulty switch on the door-latch. Does anyone have any ideas on whether I am on the right track and how I can mend this?

Look in your local paper and they will be a repair man advertised that will come to your house and look at it and be able to tell you what is wrong wih it and how much it will be

i think you are on the right track alot of the time it is the door switch or the latch check the latch first if ok then it's the switch

SEE IF IT HAS A RESET BUTTON AT THE BACK WHICH MAY HAVE TRIPPED
