Freeview is only available through an aerial in the UK. But if you are close to Northern Ireland with a good aerial pointed at the transmitter - you may get it. You can also get freeview through a satellite from Sky but the setup cost is much higher. I think you can get a DIY kit though and get the same channels and a few more. One of those cheap supermarkets had DIY kits LIDL, I think.

I've found freeview reception problematic. Not all transponder clusters work well and you get only some channels well.
If you are looking for BBC, streaming it via the internet is a good option - thats restricted to UK IP addresses AFAIK.

I'm not sure you will get reception in Ireland - it's a UK service.
I think Freesat, a non-subscription service from Sky, would be an option - you just need to buy a box (see the link) - but I don't know if you can get it in Ireland.

go to bush free view and put you post code it and it should tell u if you can have it or not or look for the phone number on a freeview box and phone them

freeview is all free, hence the name go to www.freeview.co.uk and near the bottom of the page there is a coverage checker. type your postcode there and it will tell you

go to www.freeview.co.uk and type in your postcode to see if you can recieve it. once you buy the box £30ish, its free.
