Caffeine is a vaso-dilator. That is, it promotes production of prostaglandins to relax the muscular coating of blood vessels. What you are experiencing is constricted blood vessels in your head. You might get some relief by drinking tea made from Linden Flowers, a non-addictive vaso-dilator.
One of my favorite headache remedies is a drop of pure essential Lavender oil, dabbed on the temples and at the base of the neck. It works almost instantly and you don't have to ingest anything.

Slowly taper off how much coffee you drink, or maybe replace coffee with black tea since that has much less caffeine and some health benefits too.
Otherwise, if you don't want any caffeine, drink a lot of water and take some advil when you feel a headache coming on. Don't use exedrin, it has caffeine in it. For any really intense headache lay down in a comfortable bed in a dark room, and sleep if you can.

it might not be a good idea to go cold-turkey and just stop, because as you say you get really bad headaches - the body doesn't like to be shocked like that!
so the best thing to do is to take it slowly and reduce it bit by bit. or you could just cut out the coffee and start with pain relief tablets that have caffine in them and then cut it down to ones without (thus giving your body a little bit of the caffine you crave and also solving your headaches).
in additon to either option drink lots of water to generally flush your system, also nettle herbal tea is brilliant for detox (sounds horrible but it's not actually that bad).
it shouldn't take too long for the headaches to stop, since the body can adapt very quickly (hence the reason that people end up addicted to caffine in the first place!). good luck :)

Obviously, I can't tell you what causes your headaches. You'll need to see a doctor or naturopath for that. When I get headaches, I make Willowbark tea. You can buy willowbark in most natural food stores. You simply steep the leaves in hot water as you would for ordinary tea leaves. I recommend adding a bit of chamomile or mint for flavour because willowbark alone tastes foul. It works really well, though. Better than Panadol.

Actually the caffeine is a diuretic and you need extra water to compensate, even later. The brain is very sensitive to dehydration.

Drink water and sleep. When I quit caffeine, I even get night sweats. It sucks.

honestly, suffer through it. i know that sucks. but taking anything is just going to give you a new thing to hang onto.. if you must.. take some aspirin or something.i 'd usually say excedrin, but that has caffiene in it as well. drink a lot of water.... take your vitamins, and exercise.. it'll help flush toxins out of your system quicker.. good luck
