First question what is your skill level? You see as you become better at dance games the better pad or platform you are going to want. On the In The groove song scale of 1 to 15 I can now play the 10 level songs in the arcades however soft pads often slip with my rapid steps so I have invested in a Cobalt Flux metal pad. However most players greatly benefit from Red Octane's Ignition Dance Pad, a soft pad with a heavy foam insert for comfort which also gives it raised buttons for an arcade feel.

So basically the more money you can put into it the better your game is going to be.

Basic soft pads (which are often included in dance games themselves) are functional but often slip as you play and it is impossible to confirm where you are step unless you are looking down. Recommend for players just starting to play dance games. Price average of $20.
Hard foam soft pads often have raised inserts to help feel where your feet are stepping so you can be sure to step on the right panel most of the time. Recommend for players wanting to become better in dance games. Price often hovers around $90 per pad.
Metal platforms are truly professional equipment for the professional dance gamer. Expect to lay down up to $300 for just one pad alone, but you are guarenteed to get the exact arcade feel as you play arcade versions of your favorite dance games.

Also consider to carefully look for pads that have universal capablity so you can use the same pad for Playstation, X-Box, X-360 and Personal Computer. Otherwise invest in the universal adapater for playstation 2 found on Red Octane's store.

My fashionable abode variations are Supernova and kinda Supernova 2. Supernova 2 in basic terms takes songs from different artists, and that i in my opinion like even as Konami made their own songs. Supernova has cool songs like Chaos and Xepher and Max three hundred SMMM (large Max Me blend) and Fascination MAXX. Ever considering that Konami began taking different artists' songs, it really is kinda going downhill, and Konami is starting up to get boring.

your best bet is to buy them from a retail store like you mentioned... e-bay can be risky who knows what u'll get for your money...but if you would rather order them online... u could go to the store and find out what a decent price is.......last option i have for you is try a game store that sells used equipment.... great deal for satsfactory items

Get it online. That way it will be in better condition. Plus I don't think they even sell those at target do they?
