The controversial new film by British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen comes out later this month, but should a film that offends an entire nation really be allowed?
The film, which features Baron Cohen as a Kazakh reporter, is under scrutiny from the media at the moment. It is known to contain Anti-Semitism, Sexism, and Racism.
Just how far can free speech go? Is there a line between comedy and discrimination?

I personally think Borat looks like complete crap. However, it is freedom of speech to show it. Americans are so touchy about these things, why can't they just ignore it. If someone doesn't like a film, don't see it, it's that simple.
Free speech can go as far as it wishes, that is why it is called free speech. If u don't like what someone says, just ignore it. People are allowed to say waht they think without criticism. I'm allowed to say that Bush is a raving loony with less brains than a pickle and a need to dominate the world, u all have the choice whether to read it.
However, this film should be shown and the people should decide whether or not they wish to watch it, not let nutjob right-wing activists decide for them by banning it.

I think the point of the movie was to poke fun at Americans. Sacha Baron Cohen is Jewish after all. Oh and to answer your question no way should it be banned!

It was banned for what Thai censors deemed lewd and sexual content. There was nothing in the movie that was explicitly offensive to the Thai Monarchy. Although the movie was banned from theatres, it's easy enough to buy a bootleg copy from a street vendor.

I think we should be allowed to see any movie we want to - so no, dont ban it. If someone has a problem with the content then they can stay home.
It does say a lot about today's society though - we tend to move the 'line' every year - what will my children be watching when they are my age? Sometimes I hate to think!

Check out the questions under such categories as immigration on YA and you will realise that no one seems to care what people say these days.
I have decided to see it - although I am sure that as I find YA offensive I will probably find it offensive - but I am told that he carries it off well and I loved the Ali G interviews.

I would love to see it , i love Borat . Basically people who have a great sense of humour and who are open to innocent fun should watch it.. If you are easily offended then don`t watch it . Easy !

As a matter of principle I don't agree with banning or censorship. In the case of a movie nobody is forced at gunpoint to go see it.

No, I think it looks funny and it was a funny skit on Ali G. People take things too seriously.

Absolutely not. Americans have been offending us with their gung-ho, jingoistic, allegiance-to-the-flag crap for too long. It's about time someone exposed their ignorance.
