Oh, horsehockey!
Nicky Hayden was hot on the trail of first when Rossi came off and slid into the gravel. Rossi was just "off" in Valencia, in more ways than one.
Yes, Valentino Rossi is a motorcycle deity. Yes he is amazing. But damn, give Hayden his due ... he was leading Rossi by five positions. If he had been put to it, he could have gone faster, placed higher.
Nicky Hayden turned in a Championship Season, and if not for Danny Effing Pedrosa, Rossi never would have had the lead at all. The fact that Hayden DIDN'T make a huge deal out of the crash in Portugal is proof that he has the class to be a great champ.
Anyway, next season they are de-powering the GP, so we'll see the riders' skills having somewhat more impact on the outcomes than the quality of their technicians and tires.
Should be interesting!

HELL NO!!! HAYDEN WOULDNT EVEN HAVE BEEN IN CHAMPIONSHIP CONTENTION IF ROSSI'S BIKE DIDNT BREAK ON HIM 3 TIMES....NOT TO MENTION THAT HE RACED IN HOLLAND AND ENGLAND WITH A BROKEN WRIST AND WAS TAKEN OUT FROM BEHIND BY TONI ELIAS IN SPAIN. AND THROUGH ALL THAT HE RACED HIS *** OFF AND NEVER COMPLAINED.....UNLIKE HAYDEN WHO WEPT LIKE A LITTLE SCHOOLGIRL AT ESTORIL.....HAYDEN DID NOTHING TO SHOW THAT HE IS A TRUE CHAMPION....IT REMINDS ME OF ROBERTS' JR 2000 CHAMPIONSHIP...A TOTAL FLUKE. AS FAR AS IM CONCERNED, PEDROSA AND MELANDRI SHOULD BE GIVEN THE TOP BIKES NEXT YEAR.....I CANT WAIT TILL MARCH

No way. When Valentino came off of his bike,he was in 7th place.Haydon had no chance of catching Loris, let alone,Troy Bayliss.Had he stayed on,Valentino would have made his way up to the front as usual.Haydon in 3rd,Valentino would only need to have finished 8th to regain the title. 'He'll be back',the sooner the better.Look out 2007 Valentino will return as brilliant as ever.
