Alright is there anyway I can get this company into trouble for discrimination? Alright this is what happened, my friend and I went to this oil field company this weekend to see if we could get a job and around this area it is mostly hispanics so the person handing out applications was spanish, I'm white and my friend is spanish so before we go I tell my friend to say he has no experience and i'll say I have 3 months so when we enter which is at different times I ask if their hiring at the momment and I tell them my experience and the guys says the oil field has really slowed down here and that I might try somewhere else, now when my friend goes in and explains he has no experience the guy says it's okay and that they been needing hands really bad for the last couple of wks and gives him an application and says they can train him on the job, now this is on the same day, and it's pathetic if you ask me. Any help please.

OK....you state that this is a mostly hispanic area. Why would they not want a hispanic person. It is a matter of demographics. I am caucasian and would expect the same thing.

Try the same thing in reverse and go into a predominately caucasian area of town and you and he apply for jobs as either waiters or valets.....bet you get the job.

Lastly you stated you had experience to the guy when you went in and your friend did not. He stated the oil business had been slow, maybe they only want to pay the amount of an inexperienced worker and not the pay for one with experience.

Contact your local Corporation Commission and labor office. Also, you might want to contact your Att. General with the details of the abuses. If your part of the nation is shielding and supporting illegals, you might need to find a group to help you sort out your options and what channel to pursue. Try your local mental health group. I don't think the ACLU helps Americans anymore, but you could try and see. Let us know!

Call your local news investigative team have them check it out, they may report on their findings. Most likely you don't want to have the job if those in-charge don't want you around. If they are prejudice they will make it very hard for you and you won't want to stick around. But they should be exposed for the selfish, down right dirty, prejudice, jerks that they are!

Hope you find an even better job and a lot of nice coworkers with it. : )

Tricky. Unless they argue that they have no facilities to train you in English, but only in Spanish.

It might also be that the guy who interviewed frankly didn't like you. Seeing as you are trying to file a lawsuit against the company that your friend got work at, I'd say he was probably right not to like you.

As you state it, it is discrimination. Proving it might be difficult. Try speaking with an employment law attorney. You may find one who will give a free first consultation. Ideally you should have your friend there too.
