1. It is costing us money to advance ideas not in our national interest.
2. coalitions of those opposed to our system of government and our way of life can vote to put restrictions on us
3. they have already hampered the war against Islamic terrorism by pointing blame at side issues
4. there are even proponents of huge taxes on American citizens because of envy of other nations
5. it has been a highly CORRUPT organization stealing more money than any corporation that people blame (look up scandals of Kofi Annan and his relatives)
6. Coalitions of members of Security Council can block ANY constructive action
7. the UN exerts its power and enforces its influence unequally, see how Communist China is excused restrictions on "ecological" effects on industrialization to which other nations are forced to adhere.
8. It is ineffectual in enforcing ANY sanctions unless the US or some superpower throws its force behind it. for example it sent I believe nearly 20 TWENTY threats to IRAQ and backed NONE... ZIP... RIEN... NADA... ZERO.... then when we and 30 or so agreeing nations DID do something, basically backing up and doing their job.... they turn and condemn us....
The UN has long since stopped being a viable alternative, and now really stands as a means of stealing resources and placing them in its own hands.... we can not TRUST their intent or actions.

I can only think of one reason for the US to leave the United Nations.
It's because I can't think of a single reason for us to be involved with it.

against leaving
(1) it is THE international forum for multilateral diplomacy
(2) it has so many excellent offshoots (UNESCO, Human Rights Law, WHO)
(3) the US uses its veto to defend Israel from censure. if it left, Israel would be isolated in the international community
(4) the US doesn't pay its dues anyway, so it is getting free membership and the veto of other countries' plans

I would answer your question, but for the life of me, I can't think of one reason to stay in the UN, let alone four. Sorry.

I say leave & kick them out of NY. The entire organization is hopelessly corupt from top to bottom. I doubt it will every be cleaned up. It is unable to do anything constructive anywhere. As I've said, it is as useless as udders on a bull- udderly useless.

What the... Eugh. If I was you, I'd refuse to give out reasons why the USA should retreat. There is no justifiable reasons imaginable why USA should abandon the UN.
