The sun is center of the solar system, sun reflected the light to us. The sun is a star, but it is close to us so we called it sun.
And it is not only one world in Milky Way Galaxy, just we don't know the place.

Most ancient civilizations worshiped the sun, as in "Ra", the Egyptian sun God, because they knew that without light and heat, they would perish....Read the book "Cosmos" by Carl Sagan, and that will answer your question about other worlds. There is an equation in that book that describes the possibility of "human life" in other worlds, based on the availability of a sun, water, carbon, et cetera
