The way they worm around that is by turning out all the lights to pretend no one's home. Curse them!

Yeah, they suck! It's just candy, for goodness sake! Hell, if you don't want to hand out candy, atleast do something! Sit outside and wave or something...geesh....

No, they turn out the lights so that you know not to knock on their doors! It's a courtesy to you (so you don't waste time) and gives them some peace and quiet.

Many families don't celebrate Halloween for religious reasons. Also, many may not be able to afford candy (seriously) or they may have a new baby that needs to sleep all the time.

Either way, respect their decision! Don't be so greedy!

yes! my dad does that because he loves candy so much he cant give it away and he lives in a neighborhood with lots of kids we know! dont get me wrong, he is a great guy, but on halloween he becomes like scrooge. I even offered to buy candy when I was still in high school and pass it out, but he wouldnt let me. I would pass candy out at my grandmas house instead.

No. Because Halloween is not about candy. If people don't want to give out candy, leave 'em alone. There are plenty of other people that do.

If they're not celebrating, so be it. They may have their reasons; illness, remembrance of something that happened on a previous Halloween, could be anything. Just relax, and go on to someone who is celebrating. We shouldn't judge others in that way, but try to be understanding.

well if you are old enough to be complaining about not getting any candy from people that don't want to spend there hard earned cash on junk then you are too old to be trick-or-treating anyway Halloween candy is for small children that appreciate what they get.

I give out candy. There's no requirements that anyone must do likewise. Hating those who don't is really stupid.
