I believe it is FEDERAL Law, that Drug history of any kind precludes you from being in the health care industry period. As for paraphernalia specifically, not sure if that charge would preclude you, but since it is related to drug use, I am guessing it would.

For example, my Nephew was a Supervisor IN THE KITCHEN at a Nursing Home, and they informed him when he started that they would be doing a background check to see if he had any arrests for drug use.. so it's not just Nurses, Docs, Nurses Aides, etc.. It's also Kitchen Staff, Laundry and the like..

Good Luck in finding your answer, I would think a College that offers a Nursing Degree would be able to answer your question about 'which things' preclude you from attending.

as a medical professional, I am sure you must be registered with a specific registry. There is only one person who walked the earth that was perfect. When your specified registry asks if you have commited a misdemeanor of felony - make sure to answer "yes" and provide all court documentation regarding the incident. I don't think that being honest will prevent you from testing, but it may prevent you from getting hired; depending on the individual company - I would presume.
