Well, of course, the building was rin fact built (by Foster assoc.) recently, with an extended dome.

It's associations with the Nazi period, will last for a long time. And this is a good, not a bad thing, becuase it means that the building provides a warning both of the dangers of power - hubris - and remains a symbol of a united Germany at the same time.

It would is far stupider to imagine that the Germans can simply start afresh, without any connextions to the past. Indeed, it was this collective amnesia that inspired the German 1968 revolutions, and more recently, W. G. Sebald's excellent novel, "Austerlitz", as a protest agains the obliteration of the past.

For me it will always be associated with the Nazis.
The image of the swastika atop it being destroyed is what comes to mind when I hear that name. They should rebuild the building to eliminate that connection.

I went their on a fieldtrip in the 9th grade.I stuck my finger in countless bullet holes in the walls and columns.I agree with T D.
