I'm playing MARK in my own production of RENT. I'm sorta in between tenor and soprano depending on how I feel when I wake up. I need some tips on how to sing like Mark would. I sorta have Anthony Rapps voice because I'm very forceful and a bit 'cracky' at times when I sing but I want some tips!

You should just posture. Slumping doesn't work because your lungs don't get the as much breathe so it can hurt you if you slump and sing. Warm ups are good. Like a "ahh". Make sure you drink water between times.You have to practice and search for your singing voice. A lot of times you can be a soprano and then a while later it can change. When going high it's helps lots to think on the top of your head and to lift the eyebrows.It's good to read the music and also listen to the piano or instrumental.Never push yourself and hurt your voice. You have to use your singing voice and if it's like a round you should just focus. When you have to hold a long note you just get a right amount of breathe and then make sure that you stay on the right pitch and don't go up and back down while you hold it. If it's in a group it's ok to take pauses . You can't learn how to sing in one day. It takes time. I can't tell you how to sing but I'm in a big choir and this is what my teachers tell us and it helps.

Try to get a hold of the book the idiots guide to singing, they give some really good tips in it.

hey if you think about it to much when your singing, you will suck. Besides singing is sopost to be fun. Just relax and you'll be fine. Hope this advice works. first of all the movie and production od rent rocks i love that movie i say ask people that are kinda similar to the character mark thenask them to help you or look in the newspaper or puta ad in there

you rele need to like let it flow not all can be that great listen and think of how its supposed to sound try singing with the tape/cd/recording
