A portrait of a man who loves the game of winning and mastering the game of chance, as played out in a card game. In order to achieve his mastery, he must hide behind a mask, to conceal his real intentions and vigilance of others mistakes and to take advantage of them so he may prevail and win. This seems to indicate a quandry for him - he needs to wear a mask, but it causes him trouble and distrust with his love interests.

I believe that it means that he doesnt like war, because it is composed of fighting and money.
