Desktop problems?

The backround on my desktop won't change. I know it's a stupid question, but i just don't want it to be like a virus or something.

When i cick properties, then click the tab for desktop. I then go to choose a backround, but when i choose apply, nothing happens.

Go to control panel, click display, desktop, and click on which desktop you'd like to change it to.

did you try changing the desktop in the normal way?
did you try choosing a legal file type for the new desktop?
what happens when you choose another background?
