I read an article in the paper yesterday talking about child sexual abuse punishments. It says that the law pretty much does nothing for children who are molested by a parent. A lot of children are placed back with the parents who molested them, and there was an instance of one child who had to apologize to the father who molested her for breaking up the family.
All of this was very sad. It seems to me that today it is more of a crime to be homosexual then to molest your child.
Seems like instead of fighting about gay marriage we should be fighting to get harder laws to protect our children.

It was in the Richmond Times Dispatch. sorry I was going to post a link to it but when I got to the site it won't show up. I hope children are protected in most cases.
As far as libs shooting down the laws. This is why this party crap libs, repubs and all of that has got to go people are so busy worrying about the party line that no one votes for common sense things that you would think would be the first laws approved. It's a shame.

I agree gene I"m all for harsher laws. All pedophiles and child molesters even if you do it once to a child under 12 should be fixed and given a min. of 15 yrs. People who commit sex crimes get slaps on the wrist whereas if I steal a car or something like that I'll be thrown in jail.

wow angelhunter.. You are saying that the only trauma caused to a child comes from the reaction rather than the act itself.. hmm sounds like you are rather into this yourself. That is sick. Seriously ANY abuse against a child is horrible no matter what kind this is the topic I chose to speak of today because I just read about it. And unfortunately when your father rapes you the reaction to it is not the only form of trauma there is physical not to mention devastating emotional trauma. And yes I am CONCERNED about what goes on in a child's pants no no one should be having sex with children. I guess I couldn't really expect a pedophile to recognize that though. overreacting to the sexual abuse of children NOW THAT is a new one. The only thing I agree with you on is there is not enough reaction to abuse of children of any kind period.

Honey, here in Nevada, there are laws against child abuse by family members, I know one guy personally, that I never believed he would do something like that, but he is in prision now for it. I also knew a guy in Utah that is in prision for sexually molesting his daughter.
See there are laws, at least in some states, that do protect the children. But it has to be proven that it happened, but any agency that would put a child back with the parent that abused it, should be strung up by the thumbs and let wild animals take care of them.
But, I also knew a mother that knew a guy was homosexual and she let her oldest son live with him, when the oldest was old enough to leave, then she sent her youngest to live with him, (the homosexual). That guy, died in prision, but I also think that the mother should have went to prision too.

It's time to stop overreacting. While sexual abuse should be addressed, the mindless hysteria over crimes where the greatest trauma (except in the most extreme cases) inflicted on the victim is caused not by the act, but rather than the reaction to it, simply because "sex" is involved is patently absurd.
Thousands, if not millions, of children are being beaten, burned, whipped, starved, maimed, mutilated and otherwise tortured every day. Where is the outrage? Where are the offender registries? Where is the endless stream of legislation? Where is the ceaseless media coverage? Nowhere! Why? Because we, as a society, have become so fixated on "sex" and are so involved in what is going on in other peoples pants, that we have totally lost touch with what should be our greatest priorities.
Instead of buying into the media hype designed to sell more trinkets and toys, use some common sense and give all levels of abuse the gravity they deserve. Or, be ashamed.

Actually, I dont think the laws go far enough. All adults who abuse children, either sexually or thru abuse, should have a public flogging, as the Puritans did and the males should ahve their balls cut off or hung by them and then putin jail. The abusers should get the same medicine IN PUBLIC but stronger and then sent to jail for life. Beat theri ***!

every bill aimed at protecting children is shot down by the libs. Bill O'Reilly has been fighting for Jessica's law in all 50 states, and the states that are controlled be Democrats are resisting.

This is so sad. No protection for the children. Something has to be done. Laws are crazy and sure for the criminal it seems.

In most cases the child is protected. The media prints the not normal things (would you like to read a whole newpaper about you driving to work?). If you read it is a newpaper it is not the usual case. I do not know what case you are talking about - can please post name of child & newspaper. I would like to read the article.

i do not have babies, nor do i elect them for a strong 5-10 years. notwithstanding, I do have 3 dogs, one among that's attatched to my hip. in case you imagine about it, dogs are basically like people, apart from the unconditional love. i will scream at him, hit him, regardless of for him to "pay interest."this may in hardship-free words make him worry me, similar to a newborn might want to be afraid of their determine. i might want to by no skill attempt this though. besides the actual undeniable actuality that he would not misbehave, if he did, he might want to comprehend what i develop into declaring basically through the tone in my voice. people on the different hand are brilliant. obviously your newborn knows what you're saying to them. you could tell them what they're doing inapproprately in a comfortable stern way with out ever screaming or resorting to actual violence. Calling your newborn names i might want to imagine might want to be worse than extremely being spanked. Ive by no skill been abused through a determine, yet when i develop into i imagine I incredibly be spanked then abused emotionally and verbally. sounds like the fringe of the spank might want to fade faster than the damaged soul. also, I extremely have a chum whos mom stated such issues as "why are you so stupid?" to her each and every of the time even as we were starting to be up. To make it worse, her mom is a social worker. they're both neurotic messes.
