I am sure there are some that don't suffer but I understand! I am a suffering step-mother with a live in 15 year son and we have a lot of issues even though I am the only mother he has known for the last 8 1/2 years! It's tough!

Mate, i wish you'd said why, and then could try and give a better answer, I had a great relationship with my step children, and still do really, even though i split with their mum after 4 years, the boy still has a better relationship with me and is closer to me than his biological dad (who's still around, they don't have a particularly bad relationship or anything, he's a nice guy) and it was great a lot of the time. But there still used to be problems as well, there's a lot of new emotions to deal with that you don't otherwise experience unless you're in that position. But I don't know what the problems are, I'm sure some fathers reading your question are thinking they are suffering enough with their own children, so it depends on whether it's just a general parenting problem you've got, or one specific to being a stepfather. I suffered at times, but enjoyed the good bits, and learned to deal with it in time. Good luck anyway!

without knowing how you are suffering its difficult to say but being a step parent is not an easy task especially if your step children see you as trying to replace their real father. Just love them. One day they will realise how much you love them.
