Like pretty much anywhere, you'll have to prove you have a job waiting for you (that you're not stealing from another German/European) and you'll likely have to show bank statements proving you have a bit of seed money so you're not a burden on society when you get there. Harsh but true... That's kind of the lay version... for the official version, look to the internet on acquiring a German work permit.
