Rough endoplasmic reticulum

(Science: cell biology) membrane organelle of eukaryotes that forms sheets and tubules.

Contains the receptor for the signal receptor particle and binds ribosomes engaged in translating mRNA for secreted proteins and the majority of transmembrane proteins. also a site of membrane lipid synthesis. The membrane is very similar to the nuclear outer membrane. The lumen contains a number of proteins that possess the c terminal signal

Endoplasmic Reticulum is the sort of transport vehicle within the cell. Rough ER has ribosomes attached to it, and is associated with protein synthesis. The ribosomes make the ER appear "rough" under a microscope. This is opposed to smooth ER which has no ribosomes attached to it. Smooth ER is associated with lipid and hormone synthesis.

The rough endoplasmic reticulum is part of the cell that transports things, like proteins from the ribosomes, and things like that, so it is like a highway in a cell.

It is part of Endoplasmic Reticulum that has ribosomes attached to it. It is where parts of poteins, other than the amino acids, are being added to the amino acid chain.

ER forms skeleton of the cell besides this performs many other functions eg.transport etc. sometimes there are ribosomes(protein factories) attached wid ER on its surface so in appearance it bcomes rough so called rough ER.

It's the ER where ribosomes are attached and proteins are synthesized, as opposed to smooth ER, where no ribosomes are located and fat is synthesized.
