Pre-ejaculate does not 'announce itself' with any good feelings; it's just suddenly there. Each guy is different in when his body begins producing it, but it also depends on the guys arousal level and/or length of being aroused.

Usually the pre comes right before the real thing. Sometimes it can pop out a couple of minutes before orgasm. If you're an experienced "jacker" or sorts, then you can also have some pre happen and then halt yourslef and delay orgasm.
It is difficult to generalise the whole pre-post liquids since not all men are built the same in the ejaculatory deptartment!
But usually as a general rule, the pre-c*m is a warning that the real thing is about to happen...
Oh yeah and sometimes, someguys don't even have pre-c*m!
Cheers

Unlike the above poster, I would have said that pre-*** arrived more when you become fully erect, rather then right before orgasm.
My understanding is that its evolutionary purpose is to make penetration easier.
It tends to evaporate away fairly quickly. While the amount varies, its likely to evaporate less slowly if the guy is uncircumcised and doesn't have his foreskin all the way back.
Pre-*** can have a bit of an odour, sort of musky. I remember as a kid I couldn't figure out why no matter how much I cleaned my penis, there was a smell when I got hard.

Yeah man, pre-ejaculation is pretty much when your significant other just starts to get you hot, then you get a little "wet" heh, and no its not like a climax.

You can't "feel" pre-*** like you can when you're about to ejaculate, usually you just become aware of it. However, It does contain sperm and therefore it is important to not get it on / in to the vagina if you don't want to get pregnant.

You can't feel the pre. It is part of the lubrication process.
